With its beachy colour scheme, sun-lit rooms and whitewashed timbers, this charming new villa feels like the essence of summer, and makes a very welcoming base for a week or two of indolent pottering around Paxos. Island sunshine pours in through French doors to both the bedroom and the living area, but if you prefer some shade as the temperature rises, you’ll find ample room on the terrace for a drink, a meal or a lazy afternoon with a good book.
Specially designed for two, Spitaki has its own decent-sized private pool, and you can drive to the nearest little beach in about five minutes. As the house was only recently finished, the landscaping still needs a little time to grow and mature, but all around are classic Paxos views over olive groves and tiny hamlets to the shimmering blue of the Ionian sea beyond. Another big plus is the proximity of Gaios, the island’s diminutive capital, perfect for a leisurely meal out or a morning of people-watching in one of the pretty harbour cafes. You can get to Gaios in about 20 minutes on foot or three minutes in the car; alternatively, take an easy eight-minute stroll to the nearest taverna, and savour the evocative scents, sounds and scenery of rural Paxos along the way.
The accommodation consists of one spacious double bedroom with ensuite shower room and direct access to the terrace through patio doors. There is a fully eqquiped kitchen and a large open plan living space with a comfortable seating area with views over the pool to the countryside and Ionian Sea in the distance.
A small terrace accessed direct from the sitting area with shaded seating ideal for relaxing in the heat of the day and an extensive pool area with loungers, umbrellas and comfortable seating offering magnificent views over the Paxos countryside.
